This feature is especially useful if you want to highlight best-selling products at the top of listings. You can easily import sorting data from your ERP or create it manually in Excel and upload it to Akeneo. The lower the Sort number, the higher the product will be displayed.
Default sorting options in AI Commerce:
Recommendation: The algorithm scores products based on views, order volumes, stock levels, and product age.
Sort: The new manual ranking attribute. Perfect when you want full control over product listing order.
SKU, Name, Price, Date: Traditional alphabetical, price-based, or date-based sorting options.
How does Sort work?
Value “1” is shown first, “2” second, and so on.
Recommended for use in Excel for large product catalogs.
Works alongside other sorting logics — for example, you can use Sort to promote seasonal or campaign products without affecting scoring algorithms.
Usage tips:
Sales data from ERP can be converted into Sort values (e.g., the best-selling product gets value 1).
Allows you to influence product visibility directly without algorithm intervention.
Combines well with Recommendation logic, enabling a mix of automation and manual fine-tuning.
Important — use of reserved attributes:
The Sort attribute is one of AI Commerce’s internally reserved attributes and should not be used for any other purpose. The list of reserved attributes includes: sku, vat_rate, price_purchase, weight, pdf_1–10, comment_instructions, and now also sort.
If you have previously used Sort for another purpose, reset its value in Akeneo and switch to a custom attribute (e.g., custom_sort_1) to ensure AI Commerce logic functions correctly.
